Jay-Z turned his return to London into a birthday celebration for his wife, Beyoncé, serenading her with “Happy Birthday” during his sold-out performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday night.
Beyoncé, who watched from a VIP suite, appeared on the stadium’s giant screens as fireworks lit up the venue.
The concert marked Jay-Z’s first solo headline show in the UK in almost 13 years. It also forms part of a tour celebrating 30 years since the release of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
The night featured several surprise appearances, with DJ Khaled joining Jay-Z and UK rapper Giggs for “God Did”. Giggs also performed his own hit, “Talking the Hardest”.
Later, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean joined Jay-Z for a nostalgic run of Fugees classics, including “Ready or Not”, “Killing Me Softly” and “Fu-Gee-La”.
The star-studded audience included David Beckham, Cynthia Erivo, Michael B. Jordan, Rick Rubin and Thomas Tuchel.
Jay-Z returns to the stadium on Saturday before taking the tour to Paris on September 10.
