Grammy Award-winning musician Lionel Richie has reportedly been hospitalised in the ICU after a concert over the weekend.
According to reports, the 77-year-old asked his team to bring on a chair as he finished August 29's St. Louis, Missouri gig with a rendition of "All Night Long".
TMZ reported that Richie checked himself into the hospital out of caution shortly after the performance to get some tests done.
He was treated in the intensive care unit and was still in hospital on Monday, August 31.
The outlet has claimed Richie is expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday. Richie is currently on his "Sing a Song All Night Long" tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, and his next show is set for September 26 in San Francisco.
In late June, the singer was forced to postpone two concerts after falling ill on stage during the tour's first night.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Lionel was performing "Dancing on the Ceiling" on the opening night of the tour in St. Paul when he began feeling dizzy and took a seat on stage before leaving the performance early.
Around 40 minutes later, saxophonist Dino Soldo returned to address the audience.
“Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well," said Dino.
“He won’t be able to continue. Additional information will be available.”
When he returned to the stage on June 30, Richie joked with fans: "You have no idea what I have been through in the last 24 hours, listening to my friends tell me their advice on what I should be doing."
He later wrote on Instagram: "Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love.
“I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
He added: “Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd… we made real memories together. See you in Toronto… let’s party all night long.”
Richie’s representatives had not publicly commented at the time of publication.
