US ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE GARCIA ARRIVES IN LUSAKA
US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank Garcia Jr. has arrived in Lusaka as part of his second official tour of the African continent, which runs from August 30 to September 10, 2026.
Garcia’s tour will also include stops in Ethiopia and Kenya.
While in Zambia, Garcia is expected to attend the inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema.
His visit is expected to focus on the Trump administration’s “trade over aid” agenda, with emphasis on advancing commercial diplomacy, strengthening economic partnerships and engaging on issues surrounding mining and health assistance.
After his visit to Lusaka, Garcia will travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before concluding his tour in Nairobi, Kenya.
