Arsenal Receive Double Injury Boost Ahead of Bayern Munich Clash as Two Players Remain Unavailable
According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Arsenal have received a double injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, with Piero Hincapie and Kepa Arrizabalaga returning to training.
The two players were spotted at the Sobha Realty Training Centre as manager Mikel Arteta put his squad through their preparations for the encounter in Germany.
Hincapie has been recovering from an ankle injury sustained during a warm-down session at the Emirates Stadium following Arsenal’s victory over Leeds United earlier this month. The Ecuador international subsequently missed the Champions League meeting with Lille and the Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.
Although Hincapie has returned to the training ground, he worked individually and away from the first team on Tuesday. His involvement against Bayern Munich remains uncertain, with Arteta expected to provide further information about his condition.
Kepa also returned to training after suffering a knock before Arsenal’s match against Nottingham Forest. The Spanish goalkeeper was consequently replaced by Illan Meslier on the bench for that fixture.
However, Arsenal were still without Christos Tzolis and William Saliba during Tuesday’s session as both players continued their recovery from injuries.
Tzolis sustained a hamstring injury while representing Greece against the Netherlands during the international break. Saliba, meanwhile, has been working individually for approximately a week as he recovers from a back problem.
Arteta is expected to address the fitness situations of Hincapie, Kepa, Tzolis and Saliba when he speaks to the media in Germany on Tuesday evening.
The Arsenal manager previously provided an update on Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi after his side defeated Lille in the Champions League last week.
Arteta indicated that Hincapie’s recovery could take several weeks, although the precise timeframe remained unclear. He also explained that Zubimendi had made significant progress, with his ability to manage pain during training an important factor in determining his readiness.
Arsenal head into the Bayern Munich encounter after extending their winning run in Champions League league-phase matches to 14 games across three seasons with the victory over Lille.
Despite the result, Arteta acknowledged that his team needed to improve their technical quality and attacking threat, particularly during transitions.
The Spaniard praised his players’ second-half performance against Lille, highlighting the combinations, movement and finishing that produced three goals from three different players.
