Ondo DLA chair resigns

The Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) in Ondo State, Oluwatosin Ayeni, has resigned from his position, citing the need to promote equity, fairness and unity within the party.

Ayeni announced his resignation in a letter dated September 18, 2026, addressed to the party’s National Chairman at the DLA national headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the decision was taken to allow another senatorial district to produce the state chairman, noting that his own district was being considered as the next to produce the governor of Ondo State.

He said the move was aimed at strengthening internal balance within the party and ensuring that all sections of the state have a sense of belonging in its leadership structure.

The former chairman expressed confidence that the arrangement would further consolidate the party ahead of future political activities and engagements.

Although he did not indicate who would succeed him, Ayeni said the party should be given the opportunity to choose another competent leader from a different senatorial district.

He stressed that his resignation from the chairmanship does not amount to leaving the party, affirming his continued commitment to the ideals and objectives of the DLA.

Ayeni pledged to continue supporting the party, its leadership, candidates and programmes, adding that he remains available to serve in any capacity deemed necessary.
