Arsenal scored three goals in seven second-half minutes to secure a convincing 3–0 victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
After a goalless first half, Jurriën Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka struck in quick succession to give the Gunners a commanding win in the league-stage encounter.
The breakthrough arrived in the 64th minute when Timber found the net to put Arsenal ahead after the hosts had struggled to turn their first-half dominance into goals.
Three minutes later, Eze doubled Arsenal’s advantage, capitalising on the home side’s renewed attacking momentum to put Lille under further pressure.
Saka completed the scoring in the 71st minute, making it three goals in seven minutes and sealing an emphatic victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal had gone into the half-time break at 0–0 despite creating opportunities, while Lille initially held firm to frustrate the hosts.
However, the Gunners increased the tempo after the interval, and their decisive spell left the French side unable to recover.
The victory strengthens Arsenal’s position in the Champions League league phase as they continue their campaign for European honours.
For Lille, the defeat came after a determined defensive effort in the opening half, but they were unable to contain Arsenal’s attacking surge after the restart.
