The Edo State Government has projected the completion and commissioning of the 100-megawatt (MW) power project in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area by the end of 2026, following the issuance of transmission and distribution licences to CCETC Ogua Energy Limited.
Paul Usenbo, commissioner for power, disclosed this in Benin City while presenting the transmission licence to the company, saying the project had met key requirements for its first phase.
Usenbo said the first phase, scheduled for completion in July, had been substantially achieved, with the state government and relevant agencies providing technical and regulatory support to the developers.

He said the project had now entered its final phase, which would culminate in the installation and commissioning of the power-generation equipment.
“The expectation is that the developers will complete the remaining phase and proceed to commissioning by the end of 2026,” Usenbo said.
The commissioner said major milestones were expected to be achieved by October, but acknowledged that technical or regulatory challenges could affect the timeline.
He said the government would consider an extension, potentially moving completion to the first quarter of 2027, if necessary.
Usenbo, however, expressed optimism about the project’s progress, citing the level of work completed at the site and the ongoing delivery and installation of generation equipment.
