Abuakwa South MP to roll out Kingsley Maternal Care in November

Pregnant women in the Abuakwa South Constituency are expected to receive additional support under a new maternal healthcare initiative announced by their Member of Parliament, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, for rollout in November 2026.
Dubbed Kingsley Maternal Care, the initiative is intended to help expectant mothers access the care and support they need for safe delivery.
Dr Agyemang announced the programme during the outdooring ceremony of Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II, the Kyebi Pano Chief, at the Kyebi Pano Presbyterian Basic School Park on September 28, 2026.
“It’s your time as a pregnant woman in Abuakwa South Constituency. I’m coming to support you massively to deliver safely. This is dubbed Kingsley Maternal Care,” he said.
The planned rollout follows preparations for the broader Kingsley Health Cares Programme, which has involved engagements with the Abuakwa South Municipal Health Directorate.
Apedwa has been identified as the venue for the programme’s launch, although details of the specific benefits and eligibility requirements for the maternal care initiative are yet to be outlined.
The initiative adds to a series of interventions Dr Agyemang has pursued in education, healthcare and youth development since becoming MP for the constituency.
In education, 418 tertiary students from the constituency received GH¢808,939.13 in tuition and other academic-related support for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The beneficiaries came from all 24 electoral areas and 118 polling stations and attended 74 tertiary institutions across the country.
Dr Agyemang has also supported basic education through the Kingsley Maths and Science Quiz and the Kingsley Spelling Challenge, which seek to improve academic performance and encourage pupils to develop an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
In 2026, the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Comfort Ofori-Appiah, credited the annual competitions with contributing to improvements in pupils’ academic performance, reading proficiency and confidence.
The MP’s education interventions have also extended to medical training. In July 2026, 20 students associated with the Kingsley Quiz initiative graduated as medical doctors in Cuba after receiving scholarships to study medicine.
They are expected to return to Ghana and contribute to the country’s health sector.
In August 2026, Dr Agyemang supported Kyebi Government Hospital with medical equipment and consumables, including suction machines, electronic weighing scales, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, patient monitors and wheelchairs.
He also paid the medical bills of in-patients at the facility as part of the intervention.
His other development initiatives include the construction of a floodlit AstroTurf facility at St Stephen’s Presbyterian Senior High Technical School to improve access to sporting and physical activities for students and residents.
The proposed Kingsley Maternal Care initiative is expected to extend the MP’s stated focus on healthcare and social support to pregnant women in Abuakwa South.
