2026/27 Ghana Premier League: Week 6 Match Preview - Young Apostles vs. Aduana FC

Young Apostles FC will be desperate to get their Ghana Premier League campaign back on track when they host Aduana FC at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday in a Matchday Six regional derby. The Apostles head into the encounter under pressure after suffering three consecutive league defeats, leaving them eager to return to winning ways in front of their home supporters.Playing on familiar territory could offer the Wenchi-based side an opportunity to revive their season, but they face a stern examination against an Aduana outfit enjoying an impressive run of form.Apostles suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Heart of Lions a fortnight ago, ending their eight-match unbeaten run at the Wenchi Sports Stadium in the league. They will be determined to ensure that setback does not mark the beginning of a difficult spell on their own turf. The hosts can also draw encouragement from their previous meetings with Aduana at home, having recorded one victory and one draw in their two encounters against the Dormaa-based side. However, Aduana arrive in Wenchi brimming with confidence after winning their last three league matches, including a historic first-ever victory over Asante Kotoko in Kumasi. The Ogya Boys strengthened their credentials in the previous round with a 2-1 comeback victory over Swedru All Blacks, inspired by a brace from in-form forward Stephen Amankona.Amankona's recent performances will be a major concern for the Apostles' defence, with Aduana hoping the forward can maintain his scoring touch and help extend their winning streak.Despite their impressive momentum, Aduana have struggled on the road, managing just one victory in their last nine away matches in the Ghanaian top flight. That record offers Young Apostles a potential opening to exploit as they seek a much-needed response. With Apostles desperate to halt their losing run and Aduana eager to sustain their winning momentum, Sunday's regional derby promises to be a fiercely contested encounter, with both sides having plenty at stake.
