Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA operating in Sokoto State on Sunday 30 August 2026 have successfully neutralized a security threat, thwarting an advance by armed terrorists toward Ghandi town in the Rabah Local Government Area.
The troops acting on credible intelligence indicating the movement of an armed group in Ghandi Town swiftly deployed to strategic positions near the Ghandi bridge to intercept the threat.

Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 8 Division, Nigerian Army / Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA further stated that upon making contact, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, overpowering the group and forcing them to retreat in disarray.
During the confrontation, several insurgents sustained gunshot wounds and attempted to escape by jumping into the adjacent river.
A subsequent clearance and search operation conducted at daybreak resulted in the recovery of operational items left behind by the fleeing elements, including: One AK-47 rifle,One loaded magazine,Additional rounds of ammunition and Various personal effects.
Search and mop-up operations are currently ongoing in the general area to track down the fleeing suspects.
