Vitinha Responds to Lamine Yamal Fear Question Ahead of PSG vs Barcelona

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo on Monday, October 19, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has praised Lamine Yamal ahead of his team’s Champions League meeting with Barcelona, describing the young winger as one of the best footballers in the world while insisting that PSG must prepare for the entire team.

The Portuguese international was asked whether PSG feared the Barcelona star before the highly anticipated encounter.

Vitinha rejected that suggestion, explaining that although Yamal deserves enormous respect for his performances, the upcoming match will involve two strong teams competing against each other.

Vitinha Recognises Yamal’s Exceptional Quality

Vitinha did not hide his admiration for Yamal when discussing the Barcelona winger’s performances.

The PSG midfielder described him as a great player and one of the best in the world, adding that what he has achieved so far is incredible.

His comments underline the growing recognition Yamal has received from established footballers as he continues to develop his career at Barcelona.

The teenager has become an important attacking option for the Spanish club, using his dribbling ability, creativity and movement to cause problems for opposing defenders.

However, Vitinha made it clear that recognising Yamal’s individual quality does not mean PSG will approach the match with fear.

Instead, the French champions must concentrate on their collective performance and find ways to limit Barcelona’s attacking threats.

Vitinha also stressed that Barcelona cannot be reduced to the influence of one footballer.

While describing Yamal as a special talent, he pointed out that PSG would be facing a great team rather than Lamine alone.

That distinction is important because Barcelona have several players capable of influencing the outcome through their passing, movement and attacking contributions.

Focusing exclusively on Yamal could leave other Barcelona players with opportunities to exploit spaces and create dangerous situations.

PSG will therefore need a coordinated defensive approach to restrict Barcelona’s attacking options.

The midfield battle could also play an important role, as both teams will look to establish control and create opportunities through possession.

The Champions League encounter offers PSG and Barcelona an opportunity to demonstrate their quality against strong European opposition.

For PSG, containing Yamal will be one of several challenges, particularly if Barcelona succeed in creating space for their attackers.

Vitinha’s comments suggest that the Parisian side respect their opponents but are determined to approach the fixture with confidence.

Barcelona, meanwhile, will hope Yamal can continue producing the performances that have made him one of the most closely watched young players in world football.

Nevertheless, individual brilliance alone may not decide the contest.

The ability to control possession, win midfield battles and respond to pressure could prove equally important for both sides.
