Marcus Rashford’s past comments on Unai Emery suddenly look very interesting

Unai Emery has been linked to the Manchester United job as the Red Devils potentially prepare to part ways with Michael Carrick.
Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to Como appeared to signal the beginning of the end for Carrick at United. Bruno Fernandes took aim at his manager after the game, and, simply put, results this season haven’t been good enough.
United will have replacements in mind, and Unai Emery is said to be a dream appointment for the Red Devils.
Emery joining United would certainly be an exciting appointment, and there are a couple of players at Old Trafford who would potentially benefit from this appointment.
Youri Tielemans was a star for Emery at Aston Villa, while Marcus Rashford spent six months under Emery on loan at Aston Villa, and his verdict on the Spaniard now makes for interesting reading.
Marcus Rashford’s past comments on Unai Emery
Rashford made no secret of the fact he was a fan of Emery’s work when he joined Aston Villa.
Indeed, the attacker said that Emery is a top manager, labelling the job he’d done at Villa as ‘unbelievable’.
“From the outside looking in how impressed have you been with the job Unai Emery has done here?” Rashford was asked.
“I think he’s a he’s a top manager and what he’s done with the club since he’s since he’s come to Villa is you know unbelievable and it’s the constant ambition that’s attractive and you know it’s why you want to join such a club,” Rashford said.
Marcus Rashford’s record under Unai Emery
Rashford only spent half a season under Unai Emery, and the Spaniard didn’t get tons of time to work with him after a difficult period at Manchester United.
However, despite the difficult time parameters, Emery did manage to get a decent return out of Rashford over those six months.

10 goal contributions in 17 games is nothing to be sniffed at, and if Rashford can produce that type of level for United in the coming weeks and months, he’ll be a key player.
Of course, there’s no saying that Emery will be the next United boss or if Rashford will produce the goods under different circumstances, but it is interesting to ponder what Rashford could look like under Emery at Old Trafford.
