Toyin Abraham Explains Rejection of APC Campaign Council RoleNollywood actress Toyin Abraham has clarified why she rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, stating that her name was added without her consent and that she has no interest in politics.

Abraham made the explanation in a post on X on Friday while responding to a supporter who suggested her decision might stop online “bullies” from attacking her.

She stressed that her choice was not influenced by criticism but by principle.

“Bro, I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about. Moreover, I’ve already said it, I’m not interested in politics,” she wrote.

Earlier, Abraham had publicly distanced herself from the Lagos APC campaign council after her name appeared among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, which also listed actors Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, and Bukky Wright.

Her rejection comes three years after she faced sustained backlash for supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections, a decision that triggered petitions against her films and personal attacks on her family.

Despite her disavowal, Abraham’s name remains in the published council document, which lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
