Kalonzo Breaks Silence After 2018 Photo With Ruto and Kindiki Circulates Online

Wiper Explains 2018 Photo of Kalonzo, Ruto and Kindiki Circulating Online

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has addressed an old photograph featuring him alongside President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki that has resurfaced on social media, prompting renewed discussion about their past political interactions.

According to Wiper, the photograph was taken in 2018, when Kalonzo was mourning the death of his father. The party has moved to provide historical context to the image as Kenyans continue sharing it online.

In a statement, Njiru explained that the photograph captured a moment during a difficult period for Kalonzo and was not necessarily a reflection of the current political alignments involving the three leaders.

“My attention has been drawn to an old photograph circulating on social media that was taken in 2018, at the time when His Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka had just lost his dear father,” Njiru wrote.

Njiru further pointed out the political positions held by Ruto and Kindiki when the photograph was taken. Ruto was serving as Deputy President under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, while Kindiki was the Senator for Tharaka Nithi County.

The clarification places the photograph within the political circumstances of 2018, when the three leaders occupied different positions in Kenya’s political landscape from those they hold today.

Ruto later succeeded Uhuru as President following the 2022 General Election, while Kindiki rose from the Senate to become Deputy President. Kalonzo, meanwhile, has remained a prominent opposition figure and Wiper leader, participating in political coalitions and national debates.

The resurfaced image has attracted attention because of the changing political relationships among Kenya’s senior leaders. Photographs from previous years are frequently recirculated during periods of political realignment, sometimes without the original circumstances being explained.

Wiper’s explanation seeks to remind the public that the image dates back to a specific personal occasion rather than a newly held political meeting.

The photograph alone does not establish the current political position of any of the leaders or indicate that they have reached a new political agreement.

As discussions continue online, the clarification highlights the importance of considering the date and circumstances of an image before drawing conclusions about present-day political relationships.

The statement also brings attention to the long political histories of the three leaders, whose paths have crossed at different moments in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
