Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communications Director Paul Yandoh has attracted attention after making a surprise appearance at the christening ceremony of Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene’s baby, where the two men exchanged a warm embrace.
Footage of the encounter, which circulated on social media, showed Yandoh arriving at the event to cheers from guests before being guided towards the front row. He was subsequently led to Dr Amoakohene, who appeared surprised by his arrival before greeting him with a hug.
The moment has drawn interest because of the pair’s frequent public exchanges and political differences. Yandoh has regularly criticised the minister over regional governance and has made remarks about his family life, while Dr Amoakohene has also responded to some of the comments on social media.
In one earlier exchange, Yandoh questioned the minister’s priorities following the birth of his child. Their public banter has often attracted reactions from supporters of both the NPP and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Despite their exchanges, the christening offered a different scene, with the two men appearing cordial during the family celebration.
Dr Amoakohene announced the birth of his baby boy in June 2026, describing the arrival as a blessing to his family. The christening marked another occasion for relatives, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the child.
The encounter also comes after Dr Amoakohene publicly supported Yandoh during his campaign for the NPP Ashanti Regional Secretary position in August. Yandoh finished third in the contest, which was won by Francis Adomako.
The embrace does not necessarily signal a change in either man’s political position. However, it has renewed discussion about how personal relationships can exist alongside political disagreement.
Their interaction serves as a reminder that public criticism and partisan differences do not always prevent cordial encounters at important family occasions.
