Paul Yandoh Says Daamang Residents Benefit From Ibrahim Mahama and Damang Mine, Calls It True Change

Paul Yandoh has stated that the people of Daamang are benefiting from Ibrahim Mahama and the Damang Mine, describing the development as an example of what genuine change should look like. His remarks, shared in a Facebook post, highlight the positive impact of the mining operation on the local community.

Yandoh said, “I will be truthful, the people of Daamang are benefiting from Ibrahim Mahama and Damang Mine and that’s what change should be about.” The statement emphasizes that his assessment is based on what he observes as tangible benefits reaching residents, rather than on political rhetoric or speculation.

His comments come as discussions continue about the role of mining in local development and the responsibilities of companies and investors toward host communities. By naming both Ibrahim Mahama and the Damang Mine, Yandoh draws attention to the connection between private investment and community welfare, framing the benefits as a model for what change ought to deliver.

The remark also carries political undertones, as assertions about who is delivering development often feature in public debates about governance and accountability. Yandoh’s willingness to speak candidly about the benefits, as he describes them, suggests he views the situation as one that merits recognition rather than criticism.

The post did not elaborate on the specific benefits the people of Daamang are receiving or the details of Ibrahim Mahama’s involvement. Nonetheless, Yandoh’s statement contributes to an ongoing conversation about how mining communities should measure the value of investment, and it places the Damang Mine and its stakeholders at the center of that discussion.
